How To Increase Your Facebook Engagement (Business Page)

So, running a business on Facebook seems pretty simple.
You just update your wall and people will flock to your page to like and share your posts, right? That's pretty much the dream we all have when we start our business page.
And then when it doesn't happen that way, a lot of people tend to give up or stop updating their page when they aren’t seeing the results that they want, despite their constant updates. Don't give up just yet, consistency and creativity is the key!
Here is the hard truth; people don’t want to hear about your products all the time. Think about the number of others that sell various types of products and have posts and images filling their newsfeed, or radio, TV, and billboards, etc. Let's face it, people don't get on facebook to see advertisements.
Keep in mind...Facebook is built for the control of their users, which means they could choose to ignore these ads and unfollow your posts if they want to. The key is to post without always coming across as an ad, and then when you do throw in a few posts about your products or business, you wont get blocked or hidden because your fans are genuinely interested in you and your day! You're not just trying to sell everyone something, you are inviting them to follow you and your grand adventure! This is good to remember for both your business and personal pages. How are you going to stand out from the rest?
To increase engagement on your page, you need to create content that is not only relevant but personal to your audience.

Here are some things you can do:
  • Ask Questions (This or That)
  • Timing - Post at peak times (noon, 5-7pm, 10pm)
  • Use original photos and graphics (eye catching)
  • Facebook Contest or Giveaways
  • Crowdsource for answers/opinions
  • Use a "call to action" (like, click, comment)
  • Facebook Ads (through Ads Manager)
  • Post frequency (1-3 posts per day increases views by up to 40%)
  • Plan/Schedule important posts ahead of time
  • Vary Your post types (Not all business)
  • Use the "invite friends" button on your page
  • Show your personality in your posts
  • Love on your followers
  • Have fun on your page!

Groups:
Another suggestion is to link your facebook fanpage to a group as a virtual hangout for your your customers and followers. Groups are becoming much more popular and allow more engagement between admins and members.

Although Facebook's algorithm is ever-changing, consistently engaging with your fans and customers will help your page and group stay in their newsfeed, and you continue to increase your exposure. Don't give up....keep working and keep growing!
